「 zootheism 」の語源

「動物に神性を帰属させること、動物の形をしたものを崇拝の対象とすること」、1879年（ジョン・ウェズリー・パウエル）。これは zoo- と -theism の組み合わせです。関連語として Zootheistic があります。

In Norse mythology, we have Fenris the wolf, and Jormungandur the serpent. Dragons appear in Greek mythology, the bull is an Egyptian god, a serpent is found in the Zendavesta; and was there not a scaly fellow in the garden of Eden?
