也稱 juke-box，指“投入硬幣後自動播放選定錄製音樂的機器”，1939年首次出現，早期稱爲 jook organ（1937年），源自非裔美國人的俚語 jook joint “路邊酒館、妓院”（1935年），源自 juke 、joog “邪惡、混亂”的 Gullah 語（南卡羅來納州、喬治亞州和佛羅里達州北部沿海地區的克里奧爾化英語）中的詞彙。這可能源自非洲語言，例如沃洛夫語和班巴拉語的 dzug “令人不快的”。據說這個形容詞起源於佛羅里達州中部（參見《關於 Juke 的註釋》，《佛羅里達評論》，第七卷，第三期，1938年春季）。拼寫中的 -u- 可能代表了一種有意識的嘗試，以將這個詞與其起源分開。
