Joe Miller 어원

"stale joke"라는 표현은 1816년에 사용되기 시작했으며, Joseph Miller (1684-1738)라는 코미디언의 이름에서 유래되었습니다. 그의 이름은 그가 사망한 후, 존 모틀리(John Mottley)가 편집한 인기 있는 농담집 "Joe Miller's Jests, or the Wit's Vade-mecum" (1739)에 붙여졌습니다. 이 책 덕분에 밀러는 생전보다 더 많은 명성을 얻게 되었습니다.
