black swan 어원

14세기 후반, Juvenal ["Sat." vi. 164]에서 유래된 "매우 희귀하거나 존재하지 않는 것"을 의미하는 속담적 표현이지만, 실제로는 나중에 호주에서 발견됨 (Chenopsis atratus).

영어에서 White crow도 유사한 표현이었고, Blue dahlia도 19세기에 "희귀하고 들리지 않는 것"을 위해 사용되었다.
