katydid 어원

1784년에 등장한, 크고 초록색의 메뚜기 같은 곤충에 대한 대중적인 이름으로, 수컷이 날개를 진동시킬 때 내는 날카로운 소리를 본떠 만든 표현입니다. 미국 동부에서는 여름밤의 익숙한 소리로, 이 소리는 1751년에는 catedidist라는 형태로 더 정확하게 기록되었습니다.
