continuity 的詞源

15世紀初，“空間或時間上部分的不間斷連接”，源自古法語 continuité，來自拉丁語 continuitatem（主格 continuitas）“一個連接的系列”，源自 continuus “連接，與某物連接； 一個接一個地跟隨”，源自不及物動詞 continere “不間斷”，字面意思是“掛在一起”（參見 contain）。
