endogamy 的詞源

"某些部落的習俗，禁止男人與自己部落的女人結婚"，1865年，現代拉丁語，字面意思爲“婚姻之外”，由 exo- “外部，外面”和 -gamy 組成。相關詞彙： Exogamous（1865）。顯然是由蘇格蘭人類學家約翰·弗格森·麥克萊南（John Ferguson McLennan，1827-1881）在《原始婚姻》一書中創造的（參見 endogamy）。
