Étymologie et Histoire de Saratoga

lieu dans l'état de New York, enregistré pour la première fois sous le nom de saraghtogo et apparemment le nom provient d'une langue iroquoienne, mais son sens est inconnu.

Saratoga trunk, en référence à un type de grand coffre de voyage, est attesté en 1857, lorsqu'ils sont devenus à la mode ; ainsi nommé parce qu'il était beaucoup utilisé par les dames voyageant vers la station estivale de Saratoga. Saratoga travelling trunks étaient annoncés en 1847 dans les journaux de New York.
