「 fugue 」の語源

音楽作品の一種、1590年代、fuge、イタリア語のfuga（文字通り「飛行」、また「熱情」）から、ラテン語のfuga（「逃げ去ること、逃避行為」）から、fugere（「逃げる」）に由来（fugitive（形容詞）を参照）。現在の英語の綴り（1660年代）は、イタリア語の単語のフランス語版から来ている。

A Fugue is a composition founded upon one subject, announced at first in one part alone, and subsequently imitated by all the other parts in turn, according to certain general principles to be hereafter explained.
