「 tango 」の語源

シンコペーションを取り入れた社交ダンスで、1913年にイギリスとアメリカで流行しました。アルゼンチンのスペイン語のtangoが語源で、もともとはアフリカと南アメリカのドラムダンスの名前だったと考えられています。おそらくニジェール・コンゴ語族の言葉から来ているもので、イビビオ語のtamgu（「踊る」という意味）と比較できます。it takes two to tangoというフレーズは、1952年の曲名として知られています。動詞として使われ始めたのは1913年からです。関連語としてTangoedがあります。
