erogenous 어원

"성적 감각이나 성적 욕망을 유도하는 것," 1889년, 그리스어 eros "성적 사랑" (참조 Eros) + -genous "생산하는"에서 유래. 약간 더 이른 변형은 erogenic (1887)으로, 프랑스어 érogénique에서 유래. 두 단어 모두, 옥스퍼드 영어 사전에서는 잘못 형성되었다고 아쉬워하고 있다. Erogenous zone은 1905년에 증명되었다.
