garrote 的詞源

也作 garrotte，1620 年代，"西班牙的絞刑方法"，來自西班牙語 garrote "用於扭轉繩索的棍子"（執行中使用的方法），來源不明。可能來自古法語 guaroc "棍棒、桿、弩的軸"，可能最終來自凱爾特語，但也可能來自法蘭克語 *wrokkan "扭轉"（與中古荷蘭語 wroken "扭轉" 同源）。
