idealist 的詞源

15世紀早期，“與原型或模型有關”，源自晚期拉丁語 idealis “存在於思想中”，源自拉丁語 idea 在柏拉圖哲學中的意義（參見 idea）。意義“被認爲是完美的； 僅存在於思想中”來自於17世紀。

1796年在抽象的形而上學意義上，“相信現實只由思想構成”的意思來自 ideal（形容詞）+ -ism。可能是法語 idéalisme 的模型。意思是“傾向於以理想形式呈現事物”，始於1829年。意思是“追求理想，追求完美狀態”（真理、純潔、正義等）。

在哲學意義上，德國人將其細化爲 absolute（黑格爾）、subjective（費希特）、objective（馮·謝林）和 transcendental（康德）。
