permutation 的詞源

14世紀晚期， permutacioun，“交換，同時變化； 將一件事物、位置、狀態等換成另一件事物、位置、狀態等”，源自14世紀的古法語 permutacion “變化，轉移”，來自拉丁語 permutationem（主格 permutatio）“變化，改變，革命”，是 permutare “徹底改變，交換”的動詞過去分詞詞幹的行動名詞，來自 per “徹底”（參見 per）和 mutare “改變”（來自 PIE 詞根 *mei-（1）“改變，前進，移動”）。1710年，指“由於順序變化而導致的物體的線性排列”，最初用於數學。
