snide 的詞源

1859年，盜賊俚語中的“僞造的，假的，劣質的”，一個起源不明的詞。《世紀詞典》認爲它是 snithe 的方言變體，它本身是一個形容詞，意思是“鋒利的，切割的”，用於描述風，來自中古英語動詞 snithen “切割”，源自古英語 snithan，與德語 schneiden 同源。
