congruent 的詞源

15世紀中葉，"一物與另一物的適宜性或相稱性"，源自拉丁語 congruentia "一致，和諧，相稱"，源自 congruen- 的現在分詞詞幹 congruere "一致，相符"，字面意思是"聚集在一起"，由 com "與，一起"（見 con-）的同化形式和一個失落的動詞 *gruere, *ruere "落下，衝擊"（見 congruent）組成。意思是"符合或一致的事實或條件"，始於1530年代。相關詞： Congruency。

「事物之間的協議，和諧」，14世紀晚期，congruite，來自古法語congruité「相關性，適當性」或直接來自晚期拉丁語congruitatem（主格congruens）「協議」，來自congruus「適合的，協議的」，來自congruere「同意，與...一致」，字面意思是「聚集在一起」，來自com「與，一起」（參見con-）的同化形式 + 一個已失去的動詞*gruere, *ruere「跌倒，衝向」（參見congruent）。
