dirt 的詞源

15世紀，中古英語 drit， drytt 的轉位，“排泄物，糞便，污穢的物質，”也指“泥土，土壤”，尤其是“鬆散的土壤”（約1300年），源自古諾爾斯語 drit，與古英語 dritan “排泄”同源，源自原始日耳曼語 *dritan（源頭還包括荷蘭語 drijten，古高地德語 trizan）。
