mantua 的詞源

“Mantua”是17世紀至18世紀女性穿着的一種前開衫寬鬆長袍（也是19世紀50年代女性穿着的一種寬鬆披風的名稱），於1670年代，是法語 manteau “斗篷，披風”的變形，源自古法語 mantel（參見 mantle）； 在英語中，這個詞彙受到了意大利城市 Mantua 的影響。在18世紀中期， Mantua-maker（1690年代）成爲“裁縫”的通用術語。
