melancholy 的詞源

約公元1300年，melancolie，malencolie，「精神疾病，特徵為陰鬱、憂鬱、易怒，以及無故和暴力憤怒的傾向」，來自古法語melancolie「黑膽汁；壞脾氣，憤怒，惱怒」（13世紀），來自晚期拉丁語melancholia，來自希臘語melankholia「悲傷」，字面意思是（過量的）「黑膽汁」，來自melas（屬格melanos）「黑色」（參見melano-）+ khole「膽汁」（參見cholera）。
