melt 的詞源

中古英語 melten，源自古英語 meltan（不及物動詞）“因熱而變成液體”（第三類強動詞； 過去式 mealt，過去分詞 molten），源自原始日耳曼語 *meltanan； 與古英語 gemæltan（盎格魯人）、gemyltan（西撒克遜人）“使液化，通過加熱將固體變爲液體”（及物動詞）融合，源自原始日耳曼語 *gamaltijan（源頭還有古諾爾斯語 melta “消化”）。
