physiology 的詞源

1560年代，“研究和描述自然物體，自然哲學”（現已過時），源自法語 physiologie（16世紀）或直接源自拉丁語 physiologia “自然科學，自然研究”，源自希臘語 physiologia “自然科學，對自然的探究”，源自 physios “自然”（參見 physio-) + logia “研究”（參見 -logy）。意思是“生物正常功能的科學”可追溯至1610年代。相關詞彙： Physiologic； physiologist。
