pornography 的詞源

1842年，「古代淫穢畫，特別是在巴克斯神廟中」，來自法語pornographie，源自希臘語pornographos「（一個）描繪妓女的人」，來自graphein「寫」（參見-graphy）+ pornē「妓女」，最初意為「被購買的，購買的」（最初概念可能為「為賣淫而出售的女性奴隸」），與pernanai「出售」（來自原始印歐語*perə-，變體根*per- (5)「從事交易，出售」）有關。
