pornographer 的詞源

在古希臘，妓院被稱為porneion。在古代語境中，常與rhypography搭配，意為「低劣、卑鄙或不適合主題的類型畫」。

Pornocracy（1860年）意為「妓女的主導影響」，專門用來描述10世紀上半葉由貴族但揮霍的西奧多拉及其女兒們控制羅馬政府和教宗選舉的情況。Pornotopia（1966年）被創造用來描述色情電影的理想色情世界。

英語代詞後綴，對應拉丁語 -or。在本土詞中，它代表古英語 -ere（北安布里亞語也有 -are）“與之有關的人”，源自原始日耳曼語 *-ari（同源詞：德語 -er，瑞典語 -are，丹麥語 -ere），源自原始日耳曼語 *-arjoz。有些人認爲這個詞根與拉丁語 -arius 相同，可能是借用自拉丁語（參見 -ary）。
