「 top-notch 」の語源

また、top notch、「最高品質、最もスタイリッシュな」、1840年、1841年頃の流行語、top（形容詞）+ notch（名詞）から。明らかに「最高点」を比喩的に表現していますが、正確な機械的イメージは不明です。当時は傘の特許における部品の名称でした。
