darnel 어원

1300년경 곡물 밭에서 자라는 해로운 잡초, 북부 방언 프랑스어 darnelle에서 유래; 한 이론에 따르면 두 번째 요소는 고대 프랑스어 neelle (현대 프랑스어 nielle) "cockle"로, 속어 라틴어 *nigella "black-seeded"에서, 라틴어 nigellus "blackish"의 여성형에서 유래.
