Monroe 的詞源

這個姓氏（還有 Munroe 等變種）據說最初來自愛爾蘭德里的 River Roe。詹姆斯·門羅（1758-1831），美國第五任總統，在1817年至1825年任期內擔任總統。 Monroe Doctrine（從1848年開始）是指他在1823年12月2日向國會發表的講話中所包含的政策原則。位於利比里亞的首都 Monrovia 也是美國殖民化協會於1822年成立時以他的名字命名。
