civil rights 的詞源

14世紀晚期，“與民法或生活有關的； 涉及國家內部事務的”，源自古法語 civil “民法的，與民法有關”（13世紀），直接源自拉丁語 civilis “與社會有關的，涉及公共生活的，與市民秩序有關的，適合市民的”，因此也擴展爲“受歡迎的，和藹可親的，有禮貌的”； 是 civis “市民”（參見 city）的另一種形容詞派生形式。
