consort 的詞源

15世紀早期，“partner”（現已過時）的意思來自古法語 consort “同事，夥伴”， consorte “妻子”（14世紀），源自拉丁語 consortem（主格 consors）“夥伴，同志； 兄弟，姐妹”，在中世紀拉丁語中，“妻子”，形容詞意爲“擁有相同的命運，擁有相同的財富”，來自 com “與，一起”（見 con-) + sors “一份，命運”（來自 PIE 根 *ser-（2）“排列”）。

“丈夫或妻子”（“婚姻伴侶”）的意義在17世紀30年代出現在英語中。1837年的 prince consort 是指一個王子，他是女王的丈夫，但本身沒有皇家權力（最著名的是薩克斯-科堡-哥達的阿爾伯特親王，維多利亞女王的丈夫； 最初在1840年議會提議稱他爲 king-consort）； queen consort 最早見於1667年。相關： Consortial。
