hoedown 的詞源

“喧鬧的舞蹈”，1841年，美國南部，顯然最初是特定舞蹈的名稱，可能是因爲舞蹈動作與農場雜務相似，因此來自 hoe（鋤頭）。

The step of every negro dance that was ever known, was called into requisition and admirably executed.
