quoit 的詞源

“coyte”（盎格魯-法語），指“一種遊戲中拋擲的扁平石頭”，後來還有用同樣方式使用的鐵環（15世紀）； 這個詞的起源不確定； 可能來源於古法語“coite” [意爲扁平石頭]，這個詞可能是“靠墊”（即 cushion）的變體，與“coilte”（請參見“quilt”（N.））有關。
