rash 的詞源

14世紀末，“敏捷的，迅速的，有活力的”（14世紀初作爲姓氏），是蘇格蘭和北方的一個詞，可能來自於古英語 -ræsc 的殘存（如 ligræsc “閃電”）或其日耳曼語同源詞之一，源自原始日耳曼語 *raskuz（也是中低地德語 rasch, 、中古荷蘭語 rasc “迅速的，敏捷的”，德語 rasch “迅速的，快速的”，丹麥語 rask “敏捷的，迅速的”）。與古英語 horsc “機智的”相關。

現在英語中的原始意義已經過時。1500年左右開始出現“魯莽的，衝動的，不顧後果的，行動或決策草率的”之意。相關詞： Rashly； rashness。
