titty 的詞源

大約在公元1200年，可能是晚期古英語，tete，意指「乳頭；人類女性的乳腺」。這個詞來自古法語的tete，「乳頭」（12世紀，現代法語為tette），源自原始日耳曼語的*titta（這也是古英語titt的來源，參見tit (n.1)）。西班牙語的teta和意大利語的tetta也來自同一詞源。到了14世紀中期，這個詞開始用來指男性的人類乳頭。中英語中還有一個詞teatly，意為「像乳頭一樣的形狀」（15世紀初）。
