正しくは-bleで、ラテン語の-bilisから（母音は一般的に接尾辞化される動詞の語幹の終わりから来ている）、PIE*-tro-を表し、道具の名詞を形成するために使用される接尾辞であり、英語のrudderとsaddle（名詞）の第2音節と同系である。
