semicolon 어원

또한 semi-colon, 점과 콤마로 구성된 구두점에서 사용되는 기호로, 콤마로 표시된 것보다 다소 독립적인 문장을 표시하기 위해 사용되며, 1640년대에 라틴어 유래의 semi-와 그리스어 기반의 colon (n.1)에서 혼합되어 만들어진 용어입니다. 그리스어에서는 이 기호가 질문점을 나타냅니다. semicolon butterfly (1841년경 미국 영어)는 날개에 은색 mark가 있어 이렇게 불립니다.
