float 的詞源

晚期古英語 flotian “漂浮在水面上”（不及物動詞； 第二類強動詞； 過去式 fleat，過去分詞 floten），源自原始日耳曼語 *flotan “漂浮”（源自古諾爾斯語 flota，中古荷蘭語 vloten，古高地德語 flozzan，德語 flössen），源自 PIE *plud-, 擴展形式爲 *pleu- “流動”。
