polite 的詞源

14世紀末，“拋光的，磨光的”（13世紀中期作爲姓氏），源自拉丁語 politus “精緻的，優雅的，有造詣的”，字面意思是“拋光的”，過去分詞 polire “拋光，使光滑”（參見 polish（v.））。
