schmaltz 的詞源

"矯揉造作或過度感傷"，1935年，來自意第緒語 shmalts，字面意思爲"融化的脂肪"，源自中古德語 smalz，來自古高地德語 smalz "動物脂肪"，與 smelzan "融化"相關（見 smelt（v.））。現代德語 Schmalz "脂肪，油脂"具有相同的比喻意義。
