slice 的詞源

大約在1300年， sclice，意爲"碎片，片段"，源自法語單詞 escliz，意爲"碎片，破木片"（英法語中的 sclice，現代法語中的 éclisse），這是從 esclicier 中反向形成的，意爲"碎裂，粉碎，破碎"，源自法蘭克語的 *slitan "分裂"或其他日耳曼語源（比較古高地德語的 slihhan； 參見 slit (v.)）。

意爲"從某物中切下的薄而寬的片"的含義在15世紀初出現，此後在許多技術應用中具有特定的薄而寬的東西。 Slice of life （1895年）翻譯自法語的 tranche de la vie，這是法國自然主義文學中的一個術語。
