「 bouncer 」の語源

1762年、「跳ねる者」、動詞bounce（元々は「叩く、打つ」を意味する）の動作名詞。19世紀には「自慢する者、いじめっ子、虚栄者」（1833年）や「その種類の大きな例」（1842年）、さらに「バーやサルーンでの秩序を守る者」（1865年、アメリカ英語、元々は口語）など、さまざまな特定の意味が与えられた。

Now it so happened that the brakeman was what is known, in the language of the road, as a "bouncer."
