demagogue 的詞源

1640年代，“一個不道德的民粹演說家或領袖； 一個通過迎合人民或其中一部分人的偏見、願望、無知和激情來獲取政治權力的人”，最終源自希臘語 dēmagōgos “民衆領袖”，也是“暴民領袖”的意思，由 dēmos “人民，普通人”（最初是“地區”，來自 PIE *da-mo- “分裂”，來自根 *da- “分裂”）和 agōgos “領袖”組成，由 agein “領導”（來自 PIE 根 *ag- “驅動，拉出或推出，移動”）。
