「 incorporation 」の語源

14世紀後半、incorporaciounという言葉が登場しました。これは「物質を結合させる行為や過程」「光や水分の吸収」といった意味を持ちます。フランス語のincorporacionや、後期ラテン語のincorporationem（主格ではincorporatio）から直接借用されたもので、「具現化」や「具現化すること」を意味する名詞です。この言葉は、incorporare（「一つの体に統合する」）という動詞の過去分詞から派生しています（詳しくはincorporate (v.)を参照）。「人々が結集して法人（例えばギルド）を形成し、人工的な存在となること」という意味は、15世紀初頭から使われるようになりました。
