mannequin 的詞源

1560年代，“藝術家使用的人體關節模型”，源自荷蘭語 manneken，字面意思爲“小人”，是中古荷蘭語 man（來自原始日耳曼語 *manwaz，源自 PIE 詞根 *man-（1）“人”）的小型詞。意義和拼寫常與 mannequin 混淆。

1900年，美國作家 L. Frank Baum（1856-1919）在《綠野仙蹤》中創造了這個詞。他從未解釋過這個詞的來源。
