「 malice 」の語源

1300年頃、「他者を傷つけようとする欲望、傷害や苦痛を与える傾向、積極的な敵意」オールドフランス語のmalice「敵意、意地悪、罪深さ、悪性」（12世紀）から、ラテン語のmalitia「悪さ、敵意、意地悪」から、malus「悪い、不快」（mal-を参照）。法的な使用では、「他者に対して正当な理由や言い訳なしに悪意を持って行動する意図または計画」（1540年代）。
