vamp 的詞源

“extemporize on a piano,” 1789，源自 vamp（n.1）“鞋或靴子的上部”，經過“給長筒襪（後來是鞋）提供新的鞋面”（1590年代）的動詞意義，然後是“修補，修復”（類似於 revamp）。 相關： Vamped； vamping。
